Small Bowl of White Painted IV ware

Middle Cypriote II

Shallow body, convex sides, plain rim, raised horizontal flat loop handle at rim, with string-hole lugs on the sides; at the top of the handle a fish-tail finial, with two punctures on either side of lug which recalls a nose and two eyes. Thus the top gives the impresion of the face of a horned animal.

Decoration in black matt paint: on the body large hatched tangent triangles; on base double crossed diagonal wavy bands with small circles in between transverse strokes on upper part of hundle; no decoration inside.
